Nomads
There are a lot of companies moving out of this area or just plain going out of business. I thought that a lot of them were going overseas where the labor and regulations are so much cheaper, but not all of them all. Some companies are moving to other states that have better policies that coordinate with the policies of the company– whether it’s tax policy or environmental. I don’t know of anyone that is moving their moving companies New York-side of the states, but I have no doubt that their political climate will endear some company or another to move there.
Unfortunately, Ohio seems to be repelling more and more companies. We are supposedly in the running to get some key jobs from windmill production, but the state bureaucrats have their hands out looking for goodies and the company which might come here is re-thinking their plan. They can go to any number of more friendly states and employ their citizens because Ohio is messing around while our legislature tries to get rewards and promises from them. All I, and millions of other Ohioans, care about at this point is getting these jobs here fairly and without all the back scratching. Why is this so hard?
Grump and I are seriously considering moving to another state because we can’t find good jobs around here. I was so excited when they started talking about building windmills here as we try to compete with China. I could imagine all the jobs that would create—not just in the factory that creates the windmills, but the factories and shops that create the pieces of the windmills and the machines used to build them. So many people would be back to work and things would pick up with tax revenue which means better infrastructure and happier people riding down the road without severe damage to their cars from pot holes.
I have no idea if we’re going to get those factories or not. Hopefully we do. If not, maybe Grump and I can move to the state that does allow them to be built without the same type of craziness.
