One More Closing
I was shopping yesterday and saw that Steve & Barry’s is closing. Our particular store had a sign up until recently that said “This store is NOT closing”. Well, they lied. It is. They’re selling everything off. Including their huge screen t.v.s that hang from the ceiling and the shelves and counters. I was thinking how awesome it would be to have one of those t.v.s on one of those cabinets and some home theater seating. I would never have to go to the movies again! I could put it all in my basement and start charging admission. Ah, wouldn’t that be awesome?
I’m not someone who is drooling over the huge screen t.vs, of course. I could live without one. Ours is a 20 inch flat screen and it’s pretty much perfect for our needs. We bought it last year on clearance from Best Buy. I’m pretty sure we’re the only people left in the state that actually prefer the smaller screen televisions. Anyway, it was way cheap– a year ago. Now that same t.v. is about $100 cheaper than when we bought it on clearance. So, we’re thinking of getting another one for our bedroom and giving our bedroom television to Pee Wee– who is planning to move out the very second she turns 181. The t.v. in our bedroom is ancient compared to everything else, but it’s sound quality it top notch and it’s picture is nice. She’ll not like it, but it’s better than nothing. And I get to have a new one.
Another thing that I’m coveting is that HP Touchscreen computer. I was playing solitaire on that bad boy yesterday and LOVED it. Of course, I think it would irritate me after about the second day, but right now (mostly because there’s no way we can afford it) I really, really want it. It’s a gorgeous piece of technology and is a lot of fun. I’m completely ignoring the fingerprint factor, of course, but I don’t own it, so I can do that.
Back to the “Going Out of Business” sale. We got a couple of really cute winter coats down there for only $12 a piece. I’m going to make my husband buy me one for Christmas (though he doesn’t know it yet). Honey, I want the green one. Anyway, the jean were only $5 a piece and the cheap jewelry was only 50¢. I’m sorry to see yet another store close, but it’s good for our shopping budget. Next week KayBee Toys will start marking their stuff down. They’ve just filed bankruptcy. So, I’m waiting to buy toys until then. Again it’s sad for the people that work there, but for right now it’s good for our budget. Hopefully that’s the last “going out of business” sale I run into for a long while.
Yeah, right.
